Czarna Hancza - river

Czarna Hancza - the river of otters and beavers in its natural, undisturbed course through Suwalskie Lake District. The places of existance of otters and beavers are still preserved in this large river - basin area. Young otters give pleasure when you watch them waking up and plying inquisitvely on the riverside. Thanks to the proper protection measures the beavers could reproduce themselves in such scale that the young cubs could be moved to other areas. The local scientists successfully give the rising population new territory. The moving of beavers are the only possibility for keeping beavers alive. Otherwise thay can move to Lithuania, where they can be hunted.

You can often meet and watch loon geese and tooting couples of polden - eyes by the lakes. Even if you have never practiced water sprts it will give you a great pleasure to canoe and wander through scenery formed by the natural course of the river. It will give you the possobility to disapear easily in a small boat for several days in the real wilderness. You will travel through area covered with reeds, beaver lodges, virgin forests and small villages where the white stork is still a common bird. You will be delighted by the warmth of the evening bonfire and you will be greeted by polish hosptable people.

TRIP SCHEDULE

Arrival to Warszawa / Mackowa Ruda

Arrival to Warszawa, meeting with the Aktiv Tours Reisen tours leader at 13.00 on Warszawa Centralna Railway Station in the main hall, or at 13.30 on Okecie airport at the departures gate. In the afternoon trip to direction Wigry Lake Lodging in tents in Mackowa Ruda.

Second day - Mackowa Ruda / Fracki

Canoeing: Mackowa Ruda - Fracki. Overnight in Fracki.

Third day - Fracki / Loski

Canoeing: Fracki - Loski. Overnight in Loski.

Fourth day - Loski

Free time. A wandering through the Augustowski Primeval Forest. Overnight in Loski

Fifth day - Loski / Plaska

Canoeing: Loski - Plaska Overnight in Plaska

Sixth day – Plaska

Canoeing: in the neighbourhood. Overnight in Plaska.

Seventh day - Plaska / Serwy

Canoeing: Plaska – Serwy, in the afternoon transfer and overnight in Warszawa

Eighth day - Warszawa / Departure

After breakfast departure.
